Welcome to The Gasquet Raft Races
JULY 8th 2017 MARKS THE 48th ANNUAL GASQUET RAFT RACE, AN EVENT SPONSORED BY THE GASQUET AMERICAN LEGION POST #548.
The course runs two and one-half miles. The start of the event is at the convergence of the North and Middle Forks of the Smith River by the Horace Gasquet Bridge, and finishes at the Mary Adams Peacock Bridge.
On race day, entries will be accepted between 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the registration center at the start line.
Plaques will be awarded to the winner of each category. Best Costume and Most Decorated/Unusual Raft categories will be awarded an additional cash prize.
The fee is $15.00 for each person in the raft. Entry fee for the Raft Race includes a souvenir T-shirt for each paying participant.
The minimum age for skippers is 12 years. All participants under 18 years must have a parent’s signature of consent on the entry form. It is the responsibility of each participant to insure that all California boating laws are followed. All rafts, kayaks, and flotation devices must be of the inflatable type, no hard body types will be allowed. Any unsportsmanlike conduct or littering will disqualify a racer.All racers must be qualified swimmers and must wear tennis shoes. No glass or Styrofoam containers or nails IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE RAFT.
DEEP PIT BARBECUE:
If you come to the raft races you’ll surely want to stay for the deep pit barbecue at the American Legion Hall that follows the race. Dinners are still only $10.00!
